the end is nigh...

9 more days until the end of the semester.
i'm not counting.
…lies…

so instead of doing my homework and accomplishing "important" tasks, i decided i would blog.
a nice, well deserved break.
right??
right.

i'm doing a rewind of the semester. it may turn into my entire junior year.
we'll see.

1. served as relief society president. talk about the most humbling, hardest calling i've ever had. i definitely wasn't fit for the job, but i ended up learning so much. i am so grateful for the opportunity i had to serve. let me mind you… i. was. not. amazing. we never had visiting teaching above 80%, we didn't have many activities, and sometimes i was half dead at ward council in the mornings. however, i'm grateful for what i learned. i learned of the importance of visiting teaching, i gained a stronger testimony of the priesthood, i began to understand the concept of selflessness, i practiced a lot of time management, i learned how to love and utilize the temple more than i did to begin with, i've better understood how to get outside of myself, and i've noticed so many of my weaknesses that i'm not satisfied with. (the list goes on) poor ladies in my relief society were such troopers and tremendous examples, but it's safe to say that i learned and grew the most.

2. gained some of the most amazing friends and roommates a girl could ask for. (so julie, nicole, pickle, celeste, cameo, smithaayy, & taylor… this is for you!) i'm always incredibly humbled by the people god puts in my life. i'm grateful for their example and plain goodness. between tears, breakdowns, lunch dates, cleaning parties, homework nights, and talks about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness…i've learned to appreciate what i have, not what i lack.

3. started dating my best friend…and it's aaawwweeesssoommmeee! there's probably nothing better than already feeling comfortable with someone. in fact, he can come over and i'll be in my pajamas…and we both just don't care. that, my friends, rocks. besides, we can talk about anything. he's so great.

4. taking a ROCKIN religion class. teachings of the living prophets has been so stellar! want to know what else is stellar? president clark co-teaches. let me just say that there is nothing better than having insights from the president of BYU-I. he is flat out amazing.

5. i've realized who is really important in life, and i've come to the realization that you can't keep everyone you've ever wanted forever. sometimes crap just hits the fan and makes things different. sometimes people abandon you, and you're left to pick up the pieces. i've learned that sometimes you can't rely on people, and if they want to be there for you…they will be.

6. i've realized how much of a clean freak i am. can't. function. in. clutter.
we'll leave it at that.

7. i've learned to appreciate my parents more. i mean…let's get real here. they are amazing. if i'm ever in a bind, they're always there. there were a few times in the past school year where i've had some meltdowns…and they've been there through thick and thin. i realize now that everything they've ever taught me was for my good. i take them for granted a lot, but i feel like it's important that they know i love them…even if i am too sassy for my own good.

8. i. love. children's. books. blame it on my children's literature class i had fall semester. they are so incredibly witty…and HILARIOUS! people take children's books too lightly. note to self: avoid barnes and noble. you'll either spend too much money or waste too much time.

9. my major has done nothing more than reiterate the fact of how much i want to be a mom and how important it is to rear them in a rich environment. studying spelling and doing differing art projects is SO fun, and it breaks my heart to learn about and see children who struggle and come from difficult homes. it makes me want to strive to be a better person. all i know is that my kids and i are going to have a heck of a time! i've got books of science projects, art projects, books to read, etc. let the good times roll!

10. i had multiple roommates get engaged, and i'm so incredibly happy for them. if anyone needs a good luck charm in that area…maybe you should move in with me!

11. 4 words: one. more. car. payment.
nbd.

12. i officially have 2 more semesters on campus & then i student teach fall 2013, which means i apply for student teaching this fall. this also means that i have to apply for the locations i want…leading to the fact that i need to figure out my life and where i need to be.
holy mother of pearl.

13. fell in love with artists like: the weepies, the dangerous summer, peter bradley adams, fun., aaaaand many more. my music tastes have rrreeaaally branched out. i love it.

14. been a pharmacy tech for almost 5 1/2 years. it's been an awesome job to help get me through school and pay off my car. so yes, i'm still working part time. aaaaand we'll see what happens with my job come summer (aka 9 days).
*not counting*

15. AND ONE MORE BECAUSE I CAN'T STOP ON AN EVEN NUMBER…
pickle and i have started tanning, and it just makes me want summer even more.
i'm so over this yucky weather.
and if it warms up, that means i can put my sexy rims back on my car.
ay bay bay!

okay, that's enough damage for one day.
for the love.
until next time…….

xoxo, kay
