24 Never Felt So Good

October 17th is the day I graced the world with my sassy, sensitive self. Mom and Dad called to remind me what they were doing THIS DAY 24 years ago. I think I could recite the story myself by now, but it's a tradition to hear just how miserable Mom was. :) I enjoy it.

Anyway, here is a little snapshot of my day. Hope you enjoy!

I woke up to a pretty sunrise. Yes, I was up at 4 am. I don't know why. Okay, maybe I do. A little. I woke up and remembered it was my birthday, and I couldn't go back to sleep. I am seriously a child. But in my defense, I had presents that I had to look at but not touch ALLLLLLLL week!

Nate went to work for half the day, so Bug and I played all morning. We read stories, growled like monsters, and chased a gallon jug across the floor. Enjoy the simple things, people.

She loves to jabber!

Nate got home around 1 pm or so. He brought home a pineapple and mushroom pizza (my favorite) from The Landing here in Honoka'a. As Nate said, "I don't care what is on this pizza, GET IN MY BELLY NOW!" and "Holy crap. Pretty sure this guy puts crack in his food." But really. It was dang good. That was my celebratory birthday lunch.

Nate let me open a few presents then. I was really excited.

Mom and Dad sent this book and the iTunes card. I have wanted to read this for a while, so I am anxious to stick my nose in it.

Kelsey sent this cute little plaque and a book with some senior pictures. I LOVE it.

Seriously. Is she not a babe? And I love that she used Old Blue in her pictures. That truck means so much to us. It's like having Josh right there with us.

AND NATE GOT ME A UKULELE! I have wanted one since we got here. I've already memorized a song. I'm still working on the Hawaiian pronunciation. Maybe once I get it down and I get brave to sing to the world I can upload it.

Paisley was really impressed. She just wanted to touch it. She loved when mom would play her a song.

After that Nate said, "Well, we have somewhere to be and a time to be there, but not until 3:45. So we hung out, Paisley took a nap, and I read some of my new book and played the uke.

Before we left, Nate said, "Oh, ya....um....you might want to change your shirt." What the. "Oh ya, and tennis shoes only. No slippers." I couldn't figure out why he was telling me what to wear, but I trusted him...reluctantly...

We took about a 10-15 drive out towards Waipio. A while back Nate and I went to the lookout. You can see into the valley, look down at the black sand beach, and you have an incredible look at the ocean. Anyway, our bishop owns the "Rid the Rim" business that takes you around the rim of Waipio Valley. So before I knew it, we pulled into our bishops house, and he came out to greet us.

WE WERE TAKING A TOUR OF WAIPIO VALLEY!!!!!!!!!

Oh my heart got excited.

We got to do it on a RZR, and I was really excited because I have yet to ride one. It was either that or four-wheelers. Since I was pretty much raised on those things, we opted for the RZR. And then that way Paisley could come too. So we strapped her in nice and safe and got ready to go!

Miss Bugs already to go!

Nate said, "Hey look! I can stick my foot over and hit the gas when bishop isn't looking!" That boy....

And off we headed! We cruised through some Eucalyptus trees. Bishop said these puppies are only 14 years old. They are soooo tall! You could smell them, too. Mmmmm....

We made it to the top and got to look down into the valley! There's the ocean and part of the beach.

Looking down at the taro patches. Bishop said at one point there were THOUSANDS of people that lived in this valley. A tsunami hit and wiped out a lot of the people. It went far back into the valley, so that tells you how huge it was and how much water was there.

A waterfall down into the valley

Paisley was loving it!

We took off and went up a little higher. We got to stop and check out some waterfalls.

(Aunt Ermie! Look at his beard! Tell him to shave it off!) :) :)

At this point Bishop said, "Okay, let me take the baby. You guys go look over the cliff, but DON'T FALL!"

Headed down Mud Lane

She loved the wind, and she kept sticking her hand out trying to grab plants. It was funny.

After that, we raced down to the ocean to catch the sunset. Oh my stars. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Definitely getting these pictures printed. Such fun memories!

After we got back to bishop's house, he cut us off some fresh bananas. We grabbed something to eat and headed home. I got to open the rest of my gifts, and Paisley really wanted to help.

Apparently it's delicious......

Okay, this picture is classic...

More from my awesome parents. Bath & Body Works, clothes, and a bluetooth speaker!

And more from my sweet husband

I love seashells. I might be obsessed. I love these!

My cool musical frog

And a sunrise seashell. We need to fine a pretty chain to put it on so I can wear it was a necklace.

You can read more about the sunrise shells here

We topped the day off with birthday cake and ice cream.

It was a wonderful day. Thanks to people near and far that made it so special. I feel so loved.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a ukulele to play...

XOXO
