We did some venturing around downtown Hilo. I like going to the farmer's markets, and they have a fairly decent one there right off the main drag into town. They sell jewelry, art, clothes, local fruits and veggies, seashells, and all sorts of cool things.
After we spent some time in Hilo, we headed back up the highway towards home. We stopped at a few fun places along the way.
First we took a little scenic detour that's about 4 miles long. It winds through lots of plants and bushes and tall cliffs. It's super pretty.
THere's a spot along the drive where you can get out and walk down to the water. This spot also backs up to a botanical garden. So we hopped out of the car and made the long walk down...and hiked back up. The views were awesome!

After our little hike back up to the top, we went on some windy little back roads. They are the prettiest, and you always find some random little waterfall. We ran into some Jackfruit, but they are still pretty little. Seriously, google those things. They can get big!
We stopped at one of my favorite places on our side of the island... Laupahoehoe Point.
Maybe it's just because this Idaho girl is totally captivated by the ocean water, but it is SO powerful! The waves come crashing down. It's loud and misty. Your lips get salty.

Paisley was loving it!
This week Paisley has been up to all sorts of mischief. She is a curious little bugger!
I keep all her toys in this box, and she managed to tip it over and dump ALLLL her toys. I was in the middle of something, so I just flipped the box back up and kept working. When I came back, she had flipped the box back over and was sitting on top. What a stinker!
She was pretty proud of herself!

AND Mauna Kea had snow as of yesterday. All you people in Idaho that complain about snow...Hawaii gets it too! However, my house was still sunny and warm, so no complaints here. Photo cred: my awesome husband at the dairy
Things are good here. I don't know what we will be doing this weekend due to the storm. We may not even get hit. Sometimes they say it'll get up to hurricane force, sometimes they say it won't. It'll interesting to see if our island is affected. I'll be tracking it often, but KAYLAPALOOZA goes on.
