We had a nice weekend. We went out and did some shopping and got groceries. We listened to conference Saturday and Sunday, then Sunday afternoon we went for a drive. We always love to go adventuring and find cool things.
Paisley watching conference Saturday morning. It starts at 6 am here! OY.
Saturday we stopped and got GJ's Chicken for lunch. It is REALLY good chicken. I think Nate could dream about it in his sleep...
$10 for half a chicken, mac salad, and rice. I'm always a little intimidated by all that meat, and I never even come close to finishing. Nate ate it for leftovers the next day. :)
I have been bugging Nate about getting some treasures while we are here. So as an early birthday present, I got some cool stuff! Paisley does NOT like the sound of the conch shell. She cried. I'm in love with these nontheless.
My cool new shirt.
If you spent so much at the store you got a free reusable bag. Hawaii is really into recycling and things like that, and they don't provide plastic bags for groceries back home. I was super excited about this bag, mostly because it really tells our story of living in Hawaii.
1) Kilauea has been on the news for its flowing lava recently. A lot of people back home were worried we were in danger. We are actually very far away and very safe.
2) We lived in Waimea for a month. Lots of ranching there and home of Parker Ranch.
3) I could see a rainbow every day while we were there ^^^
4) The little blue pick up is the same color as our car here. And we drive.... a lot!
5) We shop in Hilo and Kona frequently. They have the best stores. (Walmart, K-Mart, Costco...)
6) We lived right across the valley from Mauna Kea, and it has some of the biggest observatories for astronomy. But seriously...the sky is amazing here.
6) That little bird, the Nene, was at the zoo we went to in Hilo a few weeks back. It is Hawaii's state bird.
7) And Hapuna...my favorite beach! I love to put on Nate's goggles and see the amazing fish. The water is amazingly clear and PERFECT! Did I mention I LOVE HAPUNA?!?!
A barge pulling into Hilo Bay headed for the port on Sunday afternoon
Pitstop to let the bug stretch her legs. She wasn't very happy in the backseat for some reason. Usually she loves car rides. We stopped at Hilo Bay Sunday and walked on a tiny black sand beach. Nate found me some more treasures... seashells! :) Paisley cried every time a little wave would splash up. She is quite the little fish and loves the water, so I was a little confused. But I got her to smile!
A panorama of Hilo Bay. It was pretty overcast, but the sun was starting to go down. It was pretty. And if it isn't already apparent, I'm not very good at the pano shot.
Once we got Paisley back in the car and headed down the road she passed out for a nap. Apparently you can't play on the beach if you're tired...at least a baby can't anyway.
Lots of fun and lots of cool treasures that I seriously adore. It's fun living here, and I love everything it has to offer! I love being able to spend time with my little family, too.
