i guess you could say the past few posts have been a little off-ish
call it venting if you will
but this is the catastrophe of kayla's life
and where i write what i am dealing with
and it just so happens life was not so swell for a while
call me a negative ned, nancy, niel, naomi, nolan, nikki...you get my drift
but this blog is about my catastrophe, my life, and..well..me
i have decided to write about what i have learned from past experiences
from life in general
from people
from trials
from blessings
and...well...everything
(keep in mind, this only a little glimpse)
so here it goes...
what this catastrophic child has learned
- GOD KNOWS ALL! i am mortal. i know NOTHING! sure, i think i know what's going on in my life and what i need. heck, i. do. not. i think i know what's best for me and my future. i. do. not. i have learned that as i trust in god, he will put the wind in my sails and blow me the direction i need to go. a relationship didn't work out? get over it. you're failing a class? get over it. work sucks? get over it. everything is for our good...for MY good...just trust god. he knows what he's doing. easy? NOPE. but it's just the way it is.
- GET BITTER OR GET BETTER! it's obvious life is not a garden where it's abounding in peace, prosperity, and no harm. and if it is a garden...i've decided it would be full of roses. beautiful and PAINFUL at the same time. we're given trials to grow, to learn, to progress. what good is it doing if you're bitter about it? GRASP IT! EMBRACE IT! am i saying you can't have a bad day? oh honey, heaven's no! in my world...bad days are totally acceptable. scream it out. soak your pillow with tears. punch someone. put on the ugliest hoodie and pair of pants you have and watch a sappy movie. heck, indulge in some serious ice cream (peanut butter cup perfection from cold stone if you must ask). but in the mean time, you had BETTER be getting BETTER! being bitter does nothing for you. absolutely. nothing.
- be grateful for what you have. how easy is it to look around and see what you lack? how your life could magically be better? STOP IT! your. life. is. great. MY LIFE IS GREAT! honestly, you never know what you have until it's gone. want to feel rich? count everything that you HAVE that money CAN'T buy. what am i grateful for? family, friends, school, a car, a job, a house/apartment, the cutest lil roommates, guardian angels, the gospel, sunshine, mountain dew & pepsi, my calling, diesel trucks, blankets, OVER 8 hours of sleep, people who understand me, and the craft store. (and that's me JUST getting started)
- things happen for a reason. i couldn't tell you why i go through what i do or what i experience what i do...but i know there is a reason for it. a few of MY questions? why do i have ONE crooked tooth? why is rexburg so cold? why did my brother die? why is everything so expensive? why is school SO STRESSFUL? why are boys dumb? (this excludes my dad & brother & a few others...because they are the boys i love) what can i make for dinner with the items in my lonely cupboard? why do innocent people suffer? all i know is this: it's. for. a. reason.
- someday a loon will decide to be my hubsters. probably when i'm ready and decide it's okay to give my heart out. i've been burned wwaayy too bad for anything serious to be happening any time soon. and this is what i know:

- and finally...i know that happiness is a choice. you ultimately control how you feel. you control how you handle your situations, your trials, and your triumphs. do it wisely. people make mistakes. some more than others. *cough* kayla *cough* but BE HAPPY DANGIT! a quote i love from my mom says, "trials are inevitable, but misery is optional." i have chosen to be happy. i have chosen to grow. i have chosen to step up to the plate and play ball. unfortunately, the storms will come and rains will turn into floods. sometimes we drown, and sometimes we're the prepared genius with the ugly, bright orange life jacket. be happy. be content. why? because life is so great. we're so blessed.
every week i seem to have a song. one that i can't stop listening to. i have a feeling this is the one for this week. so enjoy. :)
or probably this one.
i've also learned i love music. it's so great. :)
and if anything...i've learned i still have SO much to learn.
xoxo.
