CPhT

that's it! a new title to go along with my name! on july 31, 2010 i passed my PTCE (pharmacy technician certification exam), and i am now i certified pharmacy tech! it took a lot of pushing to get me to this point, and all of the blame can be put on me. i always thought i could never pass it. i either thought i was "too young", "too inexperienced", or "too busy." well i finally ran out of excuses, and decided to take the plunge! i had to take classes to "prepare" me for the exam, but it really did nothing. just showed me what i learned in jr high/high school. super cool. i wasted a lot of time not studying, and about 3 or so weeks before i had to take it i started the craming! i had study days with a gal from work, and i would try to study the material i had as much as i could at night. (this leads to a sad, pathetic social life)

anyway, the day finally came. kelsey, aubs, and i all drove down thursday night and stayed at a hotel. i sure as heck wasn't going to be late! we saw aunt dawn and the family. they even brought us drumsticks and a celebrating pen. they're so fun! :) before i knew it, it was friday morning and it was time to hit the books for a last craming session. we ate breakfast at the hotel, check out, and then it was off for kayla's big adventure!
i walked into the suite where the testing was taking place, and a nice, lovely lady was sitting at the desk. she asked for my ID, and then she asked me to sit down and read a list of the rules of the test. (don't tell people what's on it, don't take food, etc.) after that she scanned BOTH my palms and took my pretty little picture. they have to make sure it's me before i enter into the testing room. so i spit out my gum, locked my "belongings" (aka a piece of paper) in a locker, and off i walked to the testing room.
there i was greeted with another "lovely" lady who explained i would be monitered by both video AND audio. a perfect recipe for jail, eh? all i needed was a orange jumpsuit...literally. by then my stomach was FREAKING out and i was getting so nervous! the lovely lady with cute shoes handed me my "gear" for the test, scanned my palm to verify it was still me, and off she took me into the room. (aka...my own personal jail cell. no, really.)

during the test all i could think about was, "i'm going to fail! think about all the people that know i'm taking this! i'm going to have to explain to them i failed. what am i going to tell work? i'm going to have to quit out of embarrassment.....but i want this raise. I'M GOING TO FAIL!" needless to say, i blew through the test. not going to lie, it was a little difficult. a lot of it i had prepared for, though, so i was really grateful. other questions i didn't. i really didn't know what to expect when the results screen popped up. i was prepared for either. when the big "P" word popped up, i probably could have started singing...except i was being audio taped, so i figured it wasn't a good idea. the lady came to escort me out of the room, and scanned my palm print again to verify it was still "me" taking the test and "me" leaving the test. that was seriously the BEST feeling in the world. so, so blessed is what i am.

so us girls went to lunch to celebrate, went to the layton mall, and went to charlie st. cloud, all while staying alive in the utah traffic. it was a fun little adventure, and im glad i didn't have to tell anyone i didn't pass.

on the road!
